A bad experience. Warning. Don't try this at home.
I have many stories about hair horror. One in particular comes to mind. About 3 years ago, I wanted to try a new shade of brown. I am naturally a dark brunette, and I wanted to go a few shades lighter. Well, I decided to do it myself, which I usually dye my own hair anyway, so it wasn't anything new. I ventured into Kmart, and quickly skimmed through the many brands and selections of hair dye products. There was one in particular that I absolutely loved, it was kind of a reddish/brown, really pretty, so I quickly grabbed it and paid for my purchase. When I got home I was really excited and immediately applied it.

When the 30 minute time period had elapsed, I washed it out, and let it dry. When it was completely dry, I went into the bathroom to look at it, and to my horror, it was a bright copper red. I almost had a stroke when I saw it. I finally emerged from the bathroom with this stunned look on my face, and hoping that no one would see me......well, let me tell you right now, I am not that lucky.....my grandma Mary happened to be standing right there. When she saw it, she was hysterical over it. My grandma insisted on getting a picture of it. I just rolled my eyes. I couldn't figure out what happened with my hair. I later looked at the box and found out that I had grabbed the wrong color.....the box read Deepest Copper. OOPS!! :-S

I went crying to my other grandma, and begged her to loan me the money so I could buy the correct hair color. She was horrified with the way my hair looked, so she understood my pain. *Smile* But, I told her that I was afraid to go out in public, because I was too humiliated. She lent me a scarf to cover my head. I went to the store that same day and bought hair color that matched my original hair. I dyed it that day. Now, I know that you are not supposed to dye it again immediately after coloring it, but I was desperate and would try anything. People warned me that my hair might fall out, but it didn't, and my hair was normal again. A lesson was learned here, make sure you look at the box carefully before dashing out of the store. *Smile*
