I am entering this into a contest, any opinion would be greatly appreciated
I see his body on the ground
Broken beer bottles all around.
He thought that he would have just one,
Go for a ride and have some fun.

He lies there pale and cold as ice,
Why did he have to pay that price?
If only I could hear his voice,
Why did he have to make that choice?

Looking down at my engagement ring,
Too upset to say a thing.
I can't believe I've lost my love,
But now he's safe and up above.

Remembering all the love we shared,
Remembering just how much he cared.
I can't believe this pain I feel,
I can't believe that this is real.

Though it feels like my heart is coal,
Please Lord, protect and take his soul.
And I promise till my dying day,
In my heart he'll always stay.
