Our crazy language
A Lesson in English

When I was in school
My teacher taught.
When I was in church
My preacher praught.

I learned personal pronouns
Such as he, his and him
The feminine equivalent
As she, shis and shim.

Although my appendage is called a foot
And two of the same are always feet.
To cover a foot I put on a boot
To cover them both, I must use beet.

My house burned up
It also burned down.
The alarm went off
When I turned it on.

It seems as a vegetarian
Vegetables are all I can eat.
But as a humanitarian
I shall never consume the meat.

You can see that this poem
Is completely inane,
I’m heading down the road
To the verbally insane.
