most women go through life never forgetting their first love...
Across the ocean you leapt
Left me burning in the fire you lit
Tears falling on fading pictures
Never letting reality simmer

Days and nights turned to months
Years came years went
Distance maimed my love
Still avidly awaiting your return

Like a fortress, behind memories I hid
Like a vampire with insatiable thirst
Like a newborn's lusty first breath
Like the sun kissing the sky at dawn

With every replacement
Nothing compares
With every crestfallen encounter
The more I care

Mary-sunshine I appear on the outside
Deceptively going through the motions
Yet in the darkest of nights I howl
A cry for the love once had

Unforgotten you remain...
