short lyric poem
As the dusk begins to fade
The moon rises and a lone star shines bright
I walk along reading each name on the grave
And memories in my mind ignite
I'm left helpless to wonder
Each stone leaving a thought
Why their lives and families torn asunder
Why their their flesh and bones left to rot
Each remnant of our lives united
All loved equally and ideas long sought
Yet each one is dead and blighted
All inside this morbid plot
As my hope begins to fade
No moon or star to keep it smoldered
Alone with only memories made
I envy every single place holder
