Petrarchan Sonnet
You were searching for a doll
Who you could dress up in a gown
Every night to take out on the town.
So into yourself, do you even recall
That last night with her at the ball?
Heavy rouge couldn’t hide her frown
When she looked at herself and saw a clown,
Realizing that she could never be your all.

After another masqueraded song,
Swirling thoughts to leave undaunted,
She was here now, fork in this road,
Had her chosen path been wrong,
Or was she only destined to be flaunted?
Now or never she decided, and couldn’t be slowed.
