A poem about a depressing time when the only thing keeping me going was my children.
Forever stumbling backward
down this winding stair

shuffle off this mortal coil
I cannot pay the fare

no hands reach down to grab me
my fingers worn down raw

dragging my belongings
love suffers as I crawl.

Time and tide and snowmen
melt in the fires of hell

the twisted voice of balance
laughing as I fell

all the pain and misery
that I'm forced to bear

surrounds me with a shroud
and I simply cease to care.

Still... tears drip down
my red-hot cheeks
I lay on the ground
eyes to the peaks

I sigh aloud
I start to cry
Their hands in mine
I've got to try.
