a young girl loses her fight.
Sarah went to the doctor today.
She was sick such a long time.
A tumor they said, it’s in her brain.
Can’t operate they say,
Treatment will only lengthen the inevitable.
Six months they said,
a year at the most.
She’s just 9 years old, never to see 10.
Her parents are helpless to save her.
Their comfort is not enough.
They watch as illness takes her over,
Their hearts break into a million little pieces,
Today she lost her hair.
Her beautiful long blond curls.
Thoughts tormented, minds clouded.
Hearts heavy and filled with despair
never to be whole again.
Life in its intricate design,
has set them on their course.
Such strength she shows,
courage not to be surpassed.
Her parents’ tears fall swift and hidden,
Knowing she must not see.
8 months have passed now.
Tonight the angel of death has come,
Sarah looks like she sleeps peacefully,
She looks like an angel,
But she’s never to wake again.
Her parents sit with her.
Their hearts are heavy.
They can barely breathe.
Their darling daughter is gone,
And they are still here.
Tears fall as raindrops,
thick and never ending.
For the little girl loved so dearly,
And gone far too soon.
