The healing of a broken heart
MOUNTAINS TO CLIMB

Where there was sunshine, now’s there’s just rain.
Feel battered and bruised, I’m curled up in pain.
Was betrayed, deceived, feel lost and alone.
Do I have the strength to find my way home?

It’s dark all around, with mountains to climb,
They say all will get better, I’ll heal in time.
Want to feel the warmth of the sun on my face,
To be whole again, and life to embrace.

I look at this mountain that before me looms,
It’s dark and depressing, shrouded in gloom.
I’m told there is no other way round,
That there will be many ups and downs.

So up this mountain I know I must climb,
Pushing forward, taking one day at a time.
I’m being forced to step into the unknown,
The clouds surround me and I feel alone.

The path before me is not very clear,
I stumble and fall, and cry out in fear.
Feel like I’m falling into depth of despair,
I cannot do this I’ll never get there.

Tired and lost, feet dragging in the sand,
I pull myself along, for I understand
That though my passage may not be easy,
I can’t give up, I must complete this journey.

Slowly the shadow of darkness turns to light,
The sun battles through, the clouds take flight.
I feel its warmth and delight in its touch,
Having made it this far, I’m grateful for so much.

Birds soar above me in the blue sky,
I spread my arms wide, knowing I too can fly.
Have learnt many lessons along the way,
And I grow stronger each and every day.
