Short poem about how a fawn felt after it found out it was being lured to its death.
Flight of the Fawn

I was alone and hungry
You held out your arms
and lured me with banquet
A feast of kindness
A gesture of warmth
We'd meet at your cabin.
Where I'd graze on the grass
of what I thought affection.
I thought you loved me.
And wanted me always
but I was so wrong
To you it was sport.
I was fair game.
When the season opened
the arrow was aimed
straight for my heart.
