Don't take family for granted. If they are there, get to know them.

He was twenty-two and he was my cousin.
It makes me sad that I never really knew him.
My parents got divorced when we were in the third grade.
We were the same age and got along real good.
Momma moved quite a ways away from daddy's family.
We lost touch and me and my siblings lost part of our family.
Who was to blame, I do not know, but I do know that my cousin is now gone.

As I stood there that day looking down at him, It hurt me to know, that I never really knew him.
They said he was grand and a real friend to the animals.
He also helped out anyone in anyway he could.
He made his final heroic mark the day he passed away.
He donated all of his organs and gave others back their lives.

When we were at the cemetary saying our final goodbye's, there was dove released in his honor, oh how I watched it fly.
It took his soul to heaven where he now rests.
The sun shined down on all of us that he did bless.
Brian, goodbye, I will meet you someday when I learn how to fly.
