Stop worrying about the things you cannot control and focus on life itself.

It's that phone call saying his truck's been hit.
He's been in an accident and all the EMT's are hurrying to save him.
He's still breathing, but he's barely holding on.
The situation isn't looking good, but please be strong.

All your life you dreaded picking up the phone and hearing this.
All your life you wished, hoped, and prayed that you'd never ever see this day.
And all your life you've thought about how you'd feel.
You never thought that it would seem this unreal.

It's that phone call in the middle of the night.
Your pregnant daughter and her boyfriend have just had a fight.
He knocked her over into a table with a real sharp edge.
She's in so much pain while she's waiting for the ambulance.
She says,"Ma ma, meet me there, I'm so scared!"

All your life you've been worrying about things that you can't control.
All your life you prayed that he'd be there for you to hold.
As you comfort your frightened daughter you wish he was there.
All your life this is what you never ever wanted.
