Written for Lynn Hick's Alphabet Fun Contest

THE LADY

Her almond colored eyes
gave her a look of elegant grace;
those who saw her stared,
her beauty was undeniable.

Yet, if I may quietly opine,
she was just an imitation
of the lady in my dreams,
surely no fair-haired angel.

Unfettered by my standards
of what the perfect lady should be,
I yield to the temptation to look
upon the lady standing next to me.
