A poem about redemption

Lost, guilty, angry
My spirit undressed
Alone in the world
I was raped of my wealth

You stood in the doorway
And beckoned me in
My eyes dark and clouded
I was blinded by self

I gave up my virtue
With nothing to gain
I had no idea
Of my sin and its toll

When finally I saw you
The darkness did fade
And light from the heavens
Invaded my soul

You fed me and clothed me
And made me feel loved
You fathered me, healed me
And gave me a name

Years now have passed
Since I answered your call
From that day, forever
I’m never the same
