This poem was written slightly inspired by the fall of Icarus.
To reach the heavens,
To reach the sky,
To touch the stars,
But never ask why,

Do we fly to be free,
Do we fly to escape,
Do we fly just to fly,
For its own sake,

But flight has it’s risks,
As Icarus would say,
The fall is a dragon,
Momentarily at bay,

The dragon’s teeth,
Are not his own,
They are your pride,
From your flight they have grown,

So know only this,
You too can fall,
And the earth is singing,
The siren’s call,

So of all the truths,
That are worth stating,
The worthiest is this:
The ground is waiting.
