Some nostalgic thoughts of Odysseus from Homer's "The Odyssey"
20 years have passed my love
20 years of looking for home
20 years of death, plain and blood
I must ask if I will ever find it?
Aye, since my heart will not quit

My beloved, many miles I have crossed
So many men I have lost
The gods have me tossed from here to there
Like a leaf by the air

As sun sets high above
I find myself dreaming
Dreams whose light is my only hope.
Dreams about watching our son

Ithaca… she must look so beautiful at dawn
All my people must be sleeping on
Unaware of her morning essence
Oh! So many wonderful memories
Especially about my adolescence

Why have the gods punished me so?
Are they so stubborn and blind
To see that the one who saved Troy was I?
And was not the Trojan horse my idea all along?
Arg! So much praise for their power…
When they have been so cruel to my soul

But I will face whatever
Since I’m too clever
Monster of which I shall slaughter
Because the only feeling
They make me feel is laughter

Doubt not my love
That I’ll watch over you tonight
As all the nights I been away
There will come the day
When we are together again
