well it is about the night in the life of a knife
As I sit there on the counter top
I wait to do my job
Cut some chicken, cut some beef
Tear apart the lettuce leaves

One night a man walked in the room
He grabbed me by the hilt
I thought, who is this that wields me now
And what plans might he have for me tonight?

I sit in his hands and listen to his words
So hateful so hurting so full of disdain
"I am going to kill that cheating bitch tonight"
"In another mans arms I saw her sleep"

We turned the corner and up the stairs
And slowly down the hall
He opened the door and slipped right in
He flipped on the light to reveal his lovers scorn

He raised me up and thrust me down
I bit into her flesh with glee
What is this I taste as I cut her heart?
The warmth and freshness did bring me joy

I then was turned and plunged into him
His throat I cut with mighty ease
I ate his soul with one fine swipe
and now its time to finish my job

I ripped and tore so many times
Her lungs, her throat, her eyes
I cut her face I cut her chest
When I was done I felt so complete

I fall to the floor and bounce all around
I finally come to rest under the bed
I think to myself what a day this has been
What masterful work I have done

Now many years later I sit here and wonder
Packed away in a bag next to others like myself
Was it worth that one night of joy
To spend an eternity locked in a room and sitting on this shelf
