A Nightime wandering tale
Fragile and anxious he paces the night, surreptitious foes lurk in the dark
Which path he chooses determines his plight
The pain and fear cut like a knife

Senses impaired, teeth barred, he roams with no direction
Hearing enhanced, powerful stance, he howls at his own reflection
Alone in the night, heart pounding with fright, he creeps to avoid detection

Seething with anger, he longs for peace, smothered by the cloying blanket of night
Limping in pain, he hopes to gain, a glimpse of the path that will make it all right
Then from the night, a welcome sight, smoldering passion masked with a hood
He veers to the right, heart pounding with fright, could this be for the good

The scent is strange, The taste is foreign, but somehow it’s fulfilling
It touches his heart, could it be part, if somehow he is willing
Like the warmth of a fire, it fulfills his desire, he feels it in his soul
This kindly thing, could it just bring, the peace to make him whole
