Ode to my muse.
I was walking along the shorelines
Searching through Poseidon's rejects,
When I chanced on a plain, pale stone.
How wondrous, this find by the sea.

Near invisible against the sand--
What was that glimmer of color?
That killer of cats conquered me.
How wondrous, this find by the sea.

I said plain? I stand corrected.
Color, unrivaled by rainbows,
Played across the opal's surface.
How wondrous, this find by the sea.

I considered its origins--
From the Valleys of Enlightenment?
Traveling on a steed called Pain?
How wondrous, this find by the sea.

Longer I stared, deeper its depths,
Though I closed my hand around it.
I can't, I won't be hypnotized.
How wondrous, this find by the sea.
