Written after a breakup; soon to be lyrics for a song
I am never going to be good enough for you, am I?

You stand there
With your hands in your pockets, your shoulders slumped and your eyes adverted, away
From my penetrating stare, ready and willing, awaiting the challenge, begging you to
Tell me that I am wrong…

Wrong to feel the way I do
But you don’t.
You continue shuffling your feet, staring at the “fascinating” ground
Instead of me…

You are never going to love me the way I love you, are you?

Coward
I realize this now, after so long of ignoring your flaws and imperfections
I see you for who you really are

You turn your back to me now, quite easily, and continue to walk away
I allow your words to seep into my brain as I attempt to find a reason
For your lack of emotion, but
I draw a blank…

Funny, though,
I’m not as upset as I thought I would be
Maybe love was never the right word…

Good bye, dear John, and
Good Riddance
