 SAYING I WAS SORRY  (18+)
Fictional published poem
#1137862 by SHERRI GIBSON

Why did I deceive you by taking him into my arms,
Fall for the lies he told and his boyish charms?
Saying I was sorry wasn’t enough for you
Hurt like hell when hearing you say that we were through

Why did I hurt the one I love?
To this day you’re all I think of
Apologizing only served to anger you more
It hurt like hell when you called me a whore

Why do I still want you after what we’ve been through,
Still crave the very essence of you?
Saying I was sorry wasn’t enough
Living without you so damned rough

Why won’t you listen when I say I made a mistake?
Love’s all about give and take
Saying I was sorry was so hard to do,
But I wanted you to know the truth

Why won’t you give me another chance
To prove it’s with only you that I want to dance?
Saying I’m sorry still cost me you
Left all alone and now paying the dues
