 OCEANS  (E)
Fictional published poem
#1137866 by SHERRI GIBSON

Oceans of turbulence envelope my world
I was once a happy-go-lucky girl
Sealed in a vastness of heartache and pain
I’d give anything to feel contentment again

Waves of despair a constant emotion
Tides of vulnerability wash over me like an ocean
The tears in my eyes there for the world to see
Oceans of them spent for what once used to be

As blue as the water, and void of all notion
Love cast aside in my own ocean
Tides pulling me under the deepest of currents
Loathe what I’ve become, an emotional servant

Oceans of sympathy I feel for myself
My heart empty and love placed upon a shelf
Where once I knew happiness and deep-seated devotion,
They were washed away in the murky waters of the ocean
