SMALL AM I  (E)
Fictional published poem
#1137870 by SHERRI GIBSON

Small am I, my life in danger
Taken from my home I feel nothing save anger
Beaten until only pain a reality
Always filthy and hungry

Small am I, but hatred I feel
When I was stolen my fate was sealed
Bruises cover my body and I no longer cry
I could care less if I live or die

Small am I, yet I still yearn to be free
To return to my loved ones, my family
The cherished memories are slowly being stripped
From the verbal abuse and being whipped

Small am I, but still I have needs
No reason to go on, how my heart bleeds
I pray for a savior to rescue me soon
From this life of suffering and doom
