epilogue - Complete PieceCan’t you hear it?
The tom-toms are calling
stirring that Styx ‘till
it churns out your lasts.

But all you can see is above you;
lying flat on your back
can be a burden
if
with every breath
they stare above you.
Lingering conspiratorially
writing out your will.

Love, twirling her fingers
round her hair
and beauty sucking your soul near
Adam (who’s telling her
just how he’s only
your distant cousin, twice-removed)

And with your last thoughts,
last wants,
last breath
you see Her.
dark and dredlocked
ash smeared across her face; patterned

Primal.
naked, she calls to you
in a language you (don’t) know.
and the conspirators part like seas

as you finish.

Done.
