A poem of reassurance, Inspired yet again by something I saw on my train journey to work.
Old reaches for new,
Frailty for stability.
A man who is weak,
Reaches for youth.
Youth Provides and anchor.

New turns to old,
Knowledge for wisdom.
A man who knows but doesn't understand,
Reaches for age.
Age provides the truth.

Experienced reaches for innocence,
Damaged for brand new.
A man who has seen too much,
Reaches for his child.
The child helps him forget.

Innocence reaches for experience,
Pure for slightly stained.
A child who sees everything,
Takes in too much.
Experience will cover thier eyes.

Vanity reaches for attention,
Attention grasps for respect.
Respect deserts the lapdog,
And vanity looses her looks.
Insecurity embraces them.

And they wish they could reach for each other,
When stability and innocence are gone.
They should have looked inside themselves,
Their beauty was there all along.
