Just one more way depression makes a good subject for a poem.
The tired man looks out the window.
The bricks of the building next door stare back.
A sad shade of rusty red, means a cloudy day.
The tinkle of chimes, means a windy one, too.
The tired man looks at his room.
A photograph of family on a cluttered desk stares back.
Soft brown rings from stale coffee,
and crumpled papers are the accessories of choice.
The bills on the counter lay upon each other like fallen soldiers.
The people in the photo are all squinting and smiling into the sun.
Wet, grey drops start to hit the tired man's window.
The phone bill is the cheapest.
