Poem about love lost and found
You Again

I suspected your return
I sensed in the last instant
Your presence
Your unexpected smile
My hand touching
your hand
The brushing of your lips on my icy cheek

I waited a few minutes in the threshold
Feeling your indispensable heat
On the other side of the wall
So many days had gone by
so many endless hours without you
Long hours living with you
In my memory
Mining the golden moments
Of the past in search of consolation
Veins of misfortunes and illusions
Desiring to see you without looking at you
Fearing to see you and afraid to feel your disdain

Suddenly I did not know what to do
You were there
Unexpected and longed-for at the same time
And my feet dragged my heart

Would you look at me with contempt and rancor?
I never knew if it was you or I
Who began the silence
And now I saw myself prompted by love
By curiosity or hope
To see you face to face
To look into your eyes

In the end it was lightning the greeting
Your eyes shone happy and tremulous
The same as my trembling hands
My lips brushed your cheek
We said a few words
And again you and I built a bridge over the abyss of silence
