Husband's gone to work, wife is thinking of what's happened.
Jack is off to work today,
His lunch is packed and on his way,
Standing by the laundry trough,
I give a sigh and then a cough,
All's in order as l sing,
Then suddenly l hear the phone ring,
Wrong number is what the man did say,
Then l send the children out to play,
Hanging washing on the line,
l hope l don't run out of time,
Stripped the beds, vacced the floor,
Cleaned the bathroom, toilets and more,
Kittens playing hide and seek,
Budgies flying above to have a peek,
The weather's changed and lightning's come,
Now were all indoors and having fun,
More lightning's flashing and it's pouring rain,
The yard is flooded, going down the drain,
Jimmy's playing with his frog,
Tammy's holding down the dog,
Hands in hair l give a scream,
The frog's jumped in a bowl of cream,
Wipe the table, mop up the mess,
Then change into another dress,
Alas the babies are out in the mud,
l bring them in and into the tub,
Dishes pilled up on the sink,
Even the telly's on the blink,
Sitting by the open fire place,
Watching a burning log and feeling ace,
Drinking hot chocolate and getting warm,
The budgie's sitting close eating corn,
I read a story and the children all tire,
They lay on the floor in front of the fire,
l give them tea and there off to bed,
Now asleep after being well fed.
