Your breathe still against my cheek,
quietly your heart no longer beat.
The sound of your song, gone,
No light in your eyes.
One quick pericardial wack,
Time stood still.
A quick inhalation,
A shuddering gasp.
Time stopped for a moment,
The world stood still.
All eyes on you,
Would brightness come back?
Yes! The light was there,
The song soon to follow.
Another life saved for tomorrow.
The world continues turning,
No pat on the back.
My work is over,
Another shift done
Time back on track.
