A personal poem about protection of ones heart

I built this wall around my heart
to keep it from being torn apart.

I placed every stone, brick by brick,
with different experiences that I pick.

Thick and solid, through and through,
for I placed many memories of you.

One side was made of all your lies,
another was how it made me want to die.

One side was all the promises you never kept,
another was all the failures I had to accept.

One side was the dreams that will never be,
another was everything you took from me.

In the inside, it was made of water and fire,
to burn up all your memories and wash away my desire.

So in the end I could be saved,
from all the pain you gave.
