About the battle of sleep.
As I lay in bed awaiting darkness to take me I pray for forgiveness for all of my sins. I know that I may wake later, darkness may take me, the light may take me, or I may never wake. As I stare at a point on the ceiling and watch as it is overcome by darkness. Sometimes I pray for death, sometimes for life. I can feel the darkness around me now it is cold yet warm it is then that I realize that it is the internal fire burning protecting me but when, where, how is this fire within me? What is its fuel? Does it protect me or does it welcome the dark? These things are decided nightly. This is a normal sleep cycle for me. I finally fall into slumber but never truly asleep always waiting always listening for the darkness.
