In 1998 840 people were killed and 22,000 injured due to drink drivers.
Should police be given more power to stop drivers for random breath testing?  Why is it that there are only drink drive campaigns over the christmas period?  Do the government think this is the only time people drink and drive?

Granted, at this time of year there is probably a higher proportion, but surely drink drive campaigns should be in force the whole year?

Unlimited fines should be introduced for death caused by drink driving.  Prison sentences could be a deterrent.  There is no excuse - it can be avoided.

If death is caused through drink driving then the case should be treated as murder - it's the same thing.  The motorist should lose their licence for life.  A few months is no deterrant.

What about the heartbroken family and friends left behind?  They have to live out the rest of their lives without their loved one/s.  Is the law really fair to them?  I don't think so.  What do you think?  Please let me know.
