A ditty I wrote for fun while being bored in Western Civ class ages ago.
One day a million men, or more
woke up with a funny thought,
Let's go for a little walk today
              and cross the Hellespont.

Seven days it took to reach the shore
              and stand upon sands hot.
They spied a group down the beach a ways,
"Let's go and have a talk".

Ten thousand immortals did they meet
              and their King, Agamemnon,
feasting by their swift black ships
on break from the Trojan war.

The God-like Achilles of swift feet
stood and asked "What took so long?"
And before an answer could escape their lips,
they were sent out to fight the war.

Of the Achenes in the Trojan war
              which the Iliad depicts.
A million of the men, or more
were there only on a trip.
