This is a poem from within my novel, RENVERSEMENT.
From my novel: RENVERSEMENT

HERE LIES

                                       Last rights were given by the priest,
                                       And your spirit's been released;
                                       Although your body is deceased,
                                       My love for you has still increased.

                                       When we were young, our life seemed vast,
                                       But looking back it went too fast;
                                       We knew of course it could not last,
                                       And now our dreams are in the past.

                                       We built an empire for only two,
                                       Molded uniquely for me and you;
                                       Within its walls our visions came true,
                                       Forging a mansion from out of the blue.

                                       In trying to do what we should,
                                       Sometimes the bad outweighed the good:
                                       No one's perfect, that's understood;
                                       We lived each day the best we could.

                                       You left my home a lonely place,
                                       And in my heart an empty space;
                                       But in my dreams we still embrace,
                                       Restoring a smile upon my face.
