A battle buddy is the person your responsible for in war.
BATTLE BUDDY

She’s in a land with such fine sand,
That when it rains it’s muddy.
She grips her gun and protects the one,
She calls her battle buddy.

Through the pain and driving rain,
Their closer than a lover.
No time to cry, it’s live or die,
Backed up to one another.

She racks her brain, she’s been trained,
To deal with times like theses.
And with each bomb she try’s to calm,
The shaking in her knees.

The silence gone she prays for dawn,
As she tries to hide a tear.
She hopes the sun will somehow come,
And take away the fear.

And with the sight of dawns first light,
Though cold and wet and muddy.
She grips her gun and protects the one,
She calls her battle buddy.
