Some friendships change who you are
I sit in awe of you
And all that you have to give,
A sweet bubbling well of unconditional love.

You fill an old chipped, plain, ceramic cup
And nervously share it with me

I guzzle its contents
Sweet, thick, glistening nectar,
Letting it overflow from my lips
And run down my chin onto my chest.
It fills me, covers me,
Absorbing into my being.

And in that moment I am changed
I am home,
No longer hiding in the darkness

I am embraced by you

You smile and I am free
For the first time.
A new world stands before me,
Bright, vibrant and full of movement,
So much to see and explore,
Exciting, frightening, overwhelming,
But you hold my hand
And I am safe.

As time passes,
I start to fill my own well
I fill the same cup
And share it with you

I sit in awe of you
And all that you have to give.

I know now what it is to be
Truly blessed,
Now that I have found a friend in you.
