This is a poem about looking into the reflection of your life and not liking what you see.
I stepped outside myself today,
Looked within a dirty screen,
Saw a truth that can’t be real,
I tried to scrape it clean.

Too many days of blindness,
Too many days of hate,
Too many lonely hours spent,
Trying to contemplate.

All the pain that I endure,
Deciding wrong from right,
But every time I think that hard,
It clarifies my sight.

I see it now crystal clear,
The cracks in the frame,
The tattered sills and dusty wood,
Weathered by the rain.

I wish the landscape was level,
Green and fresh,
But the valley’s dry and dead,
I slowly become obsessed.

I wish life was picture perfect,
And beautiful everywhere,
But instead it’s just a withered, cracked,
Dirty, little mirror.
