A look at society
The Line

Voices from the present. Voices from the past.
Loudly they clash  - a sign of unsettled times.
Confusion,frustration and pain.
Where did our founding fathers draw the line?

Welcome to the great U S of A!
Be good... Or we'll take your rights away.
We have God on our side, we can be bold.
Keep in line. Don't speak out. Do what you're told.

Walk the line my child, we welcome you into our fold.

Watch your step, the line is near.
They want you to gape at the other side with fear.
Don't cross the line.  Don't get too close.
They'll lock you up.  Your freedom a ghost.

Like it or not, you're in the system now.
They can tell you when to eat and shit. Can even tell you how.
But you did nothing to be locked in this place!
"You crossed our line" they say.  There are consequences to face.

Ready to leave? They'll show you the keys.
They aren't ready to let you go.
So, sadly a tease.

There is a punchline the fathers of old didn't have in mind.
Today, to suit themselves, They can move the line.
They do it all the time.
