A short poem about my sons
They hate to wear their seatbelts when they're riding in the car
I drive along methodically as I listen to them spar
When it's time for dinner they hate the things I make
Unless I give them mac and cheese, candy bars or cake
When it's time for homework, my boys just run away
But when it's TV time I find my boys will never stray

When I saw their last report cards, I almost hit the ceiling
They said, "Hey mom, do that again,"  but this time with "more feeling"
The music that they listen to has a hip hop beat
It's like we're living "in da hood" or hangin' in the street
They wear their pants down past their butts so underwear will show
It seems that they can hardly walk, but all they say is, "So?"

My boys, you know, I love them so
They're wonderful to me
And through the years I've watched them grow
It's miraculous to see
I know someday they'll want to be
living independently
But even when we are apart
My boys are right here in my heart.
