Thoughts on life and living.
We are in this world but the blink of an eye,
A moment of truth, a delicate sigh.
Time is a healer, a stealer, a friend,
Here with the stars, then gone with the wind.
The beauty beheld in an elegant flower
Soon fades away, only blooms for the hour.
Youth is compulsion, obsession, sublime,
Smiled upon fortune soon sold for a dime.
Wisdom not granted, but painfully earned,
Paid for with teardrops from lessons we've learned.
Age is a mentor, a debtor, a sin,
Cast to the ocean, then called back again.
Romance deliciously swallowed like wine,
Bitters if ripened too long on the vine.
Love is forsaken, mistaken, surreal,
Terrified passion too awesome to feel.
Hope is a promise, though taken in vain,
Found in the rapture, then lost in the rain.
Faith is a giver, a river, a flood,
Scars of eternity washed clean with blood.
Life is a wonder, a mystery grand,
Dwarfed in the shadow of one grain of sand.
Living....deceiving, misgiving, a lie,
We are in this world but the blink of an eye.
