Seeking inspiration, I open my ears...
“Jazz”

2/17/07

Notes pulsate deep within my ears
First loud and clear,
Then ever so soft, barely there to hear.

Horns blow and a rhythm is set
This is one song
Whose melodious tunes allow for thought to wander.

There is beauty in the realization that some bars are familiar
Still others are fresh and unique to me as a rising sun
But as I listen I drift and sway
Letting sweet smooth jazz carry me away.

Fingers race across keys of ivory
As musicians embrace their beat
And, through the radio
Or perhaps a computer,
An audience listens
Eager for this creative tutor.

Soothing and clear
Peaceful for a restless ear
Wanting music with out distracting verse,
So to these nameless ballads I still listen
Emotion and instruments bold and pleasant
Such is this gift –
A smooth jazz present.
