The angel with no face

Hush, my sweet, don’t shed a tear;
just listen close, lend me your ear.

Pain and woe go hand in hand,
with the maker of this land.

Cords to tighten and turn you blue,
whips to slash you through and through.

Knives to tease and tear your skin;
make you pay for all your sins.

Bound and gagged, you’ll truly see,
the nature of your hypocrisy.

Waiting in your weakened state,
you’ll realize, your intended fate.

Beauty became your Achilles heel;
hiding away your pain to feel.

Isn’t it funny, how we atone,
as we’re dying and alone?

Hush, sweet angel, you’ve plead your case.
Now, meet your maker, without your face!
