Semi-rebellious, semi-nothingness
so one day when I looked up and saw the clear blue sky raining
I took to the streets and since have not stopped running
because as soon as hypocrisy meets with corruption
and the same thing is played on every TV
not a one man can stop its consumption
not a single being will ever be free.

I hide in the cave of the prophet
awaiting my own silent revelation
with fists balled and teeth clenched
await the day to bring me salvation

saw two ragged dogs walking on all but broken legs
their spirits drenched and minds reduced to dregs
the next step in time will bring naught but pain
sweet meets sour to form one foul taste
see, no two events can ever be the same
black and white form the same damn gray

crawl out from the light of a new day
silhouette v of birds over my head
cold fades, sun heats my face
turned around, then all is dead

and when it finally comes time to end this painful day
and all I have to show is a head full of empty clay
what next must be done is the same as it was
we have to run and fight to keep the status quo
when the day was dawn it felt just as dusk
the day has finished and we have nothing to show

so here I am now on a rubber cloud
sitting and thinking like I knew I would
about how to tell the old from the proud
and how to become what I know I should
