How do you view the world? How does the world view you?
I am a globe
by: Zandria Nebeker 10th Grade English

I am a globe
I shine with the light I borrowed from the sun.
I shine for all to see.
Bathe in the light I reflect out for you.
Feel the warmth it can give you.

The world falls in to my view
and suddenly, fashion,
hobbies, bodacious babes,
and my sixteenth birthday,
are the colors you can see in me.

Those colors swirl inside of me now,
the colors give me attitude,
they let me tell all the world,
they let me hide my feelings.

Teen magazine,
drivers handbook, come into play
shoving and pushing
more color flooding into me.

Soon I am nothing,
a mottled mess of colors,
mismatched, tumbled, and mixed all together,
I am ugly there is nothing to show for what I do.

The colors fight,
pushing, and shoving, to find there place.
The sun no longer gleams off my shell!
Are there clouds?
Why is the sun no longer entering,
do I not care to let my own light shine?

I seek out the rays of the sun
I allow them to play on my smooth surface.
I reflect all the colors I have enclosed within me.
I shine brighter now for all to see.

Look at my once mottled mess,
do you see, really you must see.
All the colors I have, they now all fit.
I am now a rare form of art.
I am now a rare form of art.
I am beautiful and all stop to look,
Exquisite, I inspire all.
Completely dazzling,
I shine now for the world
You can see now, just who,
I am.
