A poem about the joy of spring.
Marjorie, laying back on the freshly mowed, green, grass
She is queen of spring
In a golden afternoon of dappled sunlight.
Her face - the simple openness of a daisy
Her voice - peace, love, and happiness
The sun queen, pale mellow yellow.
She loves to dance underneath the fragrant branches
While the rose colored petals drift to rest
To make a carpet for her pale toes.

Marjorie, drifting through dew kissed fields
Flowers unfold, unravel before her soft eyes
Exhaling their sweet scents enticingly
She loves them all, calls them by name:
Pansy, daffodil, marigold, tulip, lily.
She sighs and smiles like the sun,
A lemon glow, her inner light.
Out in the spring she hasn't a worry
It's flower time.

Marjorie, slouching in a desk at school,
Shivering from the cold, looking out at the barren trees,
Wishing it was spring.
