A company man playing hookie.

Gone Fishin'

I called in sick,
one day to the firm.
Said it was quick,
some new kind of germ.

They said well ok,
we'll mark this right down.
Off for one day,
you won't be around.

I hung up the phone,
was off in a flash.
My cover not blown;
I needed some cash.

Off I was flyin',
with little concern.
Some fish I'd be fryin'
upon my return.

Down at the lake
there wasn't a noise.
No ten minute break,
no office-day joys.

I'd purchased a pole,
to hell with the firm.
It's good for the soul;
to dangle your worm.
