A poem about an aquaintance of mine.

A Slice For Elvis

I know a horse named Elvis,
he has a famous name,
so stoic in his handsome pose
and flowing golden mane.

I know he likes his apple treat
a single slice or two;
and sometimes in the afternoon
I treat him when I'm through.

Patiently, he waits for me,
he seems to understand,
then shakes his head for he has seen
the apple in my hand.

I do not want to spoil him,
not always do I bear
the apple treat he thinks he needs;
I know it seems unfair.

But now and then I'll help my friend
and let him have his way,
I'll see to it he has his snack
at least he will today.

Wild horses couldn't drag me away from this site.
