Senseless

I wish you were blind,
So that you couldn't see all that is bad,
But since blind you are not,
Instead see the good and forget the sad.

I wish you were deaf,
So that you couldn't hear of any scary thing,
But since deaf you are not,
Instead hear of that which gives a cheerful ring.

I wish you were unfeeling,
So that you couldn't know pain,
But since unfeeling you are not,
Instead let your feeling gain.

I wish you were without taste,
So that you couldn't know bitterness,
But since without taste you are not,
Instead have sensations of sweetness.

I wish you were without smell,
So that you couldn't know rancid odour,
But since without smell you are not,
Instead let enter succulent aroma - sweet odour.

I wish you were mute,
So that others you couldn't destroy,
But since mute you are not,
Instead let in sweet thought that words employ.

I wish you were blind,
So that you couldn't see me,
I wish you were mute,
So you couldn't hurt me.
I wish that you loved me,
I wish that you knew me.
