innocence
I walk alone on an empty road
my pain flows through me
like the moon shining down
making me visible for all to see.

Happiness leaves me
like the light leaves the earth,
slowly so that you never really notice,
until all of a sudden it's dark,
and the light is but a memory,
a memory or times long past,
when regret stayed in the shadows,
and sorrow unknown, never rose to meet me.

But innocence fades
and darkness creeps in
and once you're there it's hard to find the place
where the sun shines again.
