What's the point?

Materialism

Gazing over the moonlit sky

the dark goes on forever

stars burning out of existence

falling as tarnished treasure

The wind blows through my hair

kisses each singing leaf

with coolness and dew it caresses

all life with a sigh of relief

Am I a stranger to this world?

that dances in harmony

no worries, no fears...content

in all it's came to be?

As it falls into nothingness,

does it ever wonder why?

from nothing started, ends the same

and doesn't know to cry.

While it sings it's life song

my heart sings a lullabye

for they will never live again

their lives will pass them by

Is this the way I meant to be?

Is this the reason I'm here?

To love, and loose, and cry, and laugh

of death to always fear?

What a cruel life 'tis, after all

to know my impending doom

to watch and see my loved ones go

that I should fade away soon too

How I wish to be the star

which fell in unawares

without fear, and without gloom

not knowing she's even there

'Tis not a suprize to see man die

blood spilled by his own hand

what worth is he who shall disappear

and cease to be a man?

The trees have sun, they have rain

and darkness so that they thrive

in need of nothing, filled and complete

what it means to be alive.

But man has depths, unseen and vast

emptiness, and grief

forever reaching to find his worth

in fear, with no relief.

He smiles and sings, only for now

just a temporary glee

dependant on his circumstance

this is pathetic me

Am I  foolish to look for more?

to find purpose in my tears

It can't be so that I am void

if all I need is here

Speak to me wind, of your secret

what your voice tries to reveal

from which hands have you come?

tell me His hands are real

For I do not think I should live

if my life is but a phase

if predestined to fall with the stars

and none shall remember my face
